Website design cost depends on unique page layouts, brand direction, custom illustration or photography, responsive states and how many revision rounds a project includes. Templates and stock assets lower the price, while fully custom systems, motion and accessibility work raise it. Most quotes combine a discovery fee, a design rate and a set number of revisions.
Design is a system, not a stack of pages
A designer is not decorating individual pages so much as defining a system: type scale, colour tokens, spacing rules, button states and reusable components. Once that system exists, additional pages become faster because they reuse it. This is why the first few screens of a project carry a disproportionate share of the cost, and why a well-documented system can lower the price of everything that follows it.
Page types matter more than page count
What raises a quote is the number of distinct page layouts, not the raw count of pages. Ten blog posts that share one template cost far less than ten bespoke pages with unique structures. Home pages, pricing tables, dashboards and interactive tools each demand their own design thinking. When you plan a site, group pages by layout so you can see how many genuinely different designs you are asking for.
Branding, assets and copy
Brand direction is a separate discipline from page design. A project that needs a logo, a colour system and typographic rules starts higher than one that arrives with a brand book. Photography, illustration and iconography add either licensing or production cost. Copywriting is often overlooked until launch, yet writing strong headlines and body text takes time.
